How I Repaired My iPhone 8+ Screen

I decided to try to repair my phone’s screen myself. So I bought this iPhone 8+ screen repair kit from! The kit comes with all the tools you need for the project, and there are detailed instructions on removing the screen on their website. Here’s how I did it:

Step 1: Remove external screws from the bottom of the phone (by the microphone and speaker).

Step 2: Use clear tape (packing tape is probably better) to cover the front of the screen.

This helps prevent excess shards of glass from falling. I overlapped the tape a bit to be sure no shards came through the separation between strips of tape.

Step 3: Use a hair dryer to loosen the glue around the screen that attaches to the phone’s frame.

I used the medium setting on my hair dryer, using a circling motion around the phones edges. This helps from any part of the phone overheating.

Step 4: Use the suction cup to detach or pull up the glass screen from the frame.

This step didn’t work as well for me I think maybe because of the type of tape I used to secure the glass. Instead I used the flat triangle tool (“pick”) included to pry the screen up.

Step 5: Unscrew the metal plate  (“bracket covering”) over the “logic board” on the right side of the battery. Remove the logic board.
