James “Jay Luvve” Watford II is a poet, show host, and writer from Saint Louis, Missouri. Jay Luvve is currently the 2020 St. Louis Poetry Slam Team Coach & The Woke Brand Slam Grand Champion. He is recognized as the 2012, 2014, and 2018 St. Louis Poetry Slam Team Grand Champion. He is the 2014 Individual Grand Slam Champion for the Southern Fried Poetry Festival, and placed sixth at the National Poetry Slam competition. He has performed nationwide, individually and with slam teams, and has won over twenty local poetry slam competitions and open mics. Jay continues to perform and write today.

Jay Luvve began writing in 2008 on Facebook posts, performing in 2011 at “Got Lyrics” open mic, and competing in slam poetry in 2012. Jay competed and toured with UrbSlam from 2012 to 2014. He returned in 2017, when he competed for and joined the 2018 Saint Louis Poetry Slam (STL Poetry Slam).
